Omena, MI
Omena Organics is a family fruit operation in Omena, Michigan, on the Leelanau Peninsula. Founded by Bob and Jane Weaver, the business now spans three generations of fruit growing in this corner of northern Michigan, and the family sums up its approach with a simple idea: food that travels from their farm to your table.
The farm grows organically and puts a strong emphasis on soil and plant health, adding beneficial microorganisms (SCD and Quantum Growth probiotics) to its crop production. The family holds that organic fruit is sweeter and more flavorful, with a deeper color, and cherries are singled out as one of the defining treasures of the region. Omena Organics describes its products as USDA certified organic and built on short, clean ingredient lists.
The range covers fresh, frozen, dried and canned foods. Dried Montmorency tart cherries and wild blueberries sit alongside canned beans, pumpkin, applesauce and cherries, plus tart cherry juice and concentrate, pie filling, applesauce cups, frozen vegetables and preserves. Taken together, the company presents its line as a well-rounded circle of fruit, vegetable and protein staples grown and packed with the same care.
