Pop Daddy Snacks is a family snack company based in Howell, Michigan, started by Mark and Erin Sarafa. It began with popcorn: Mark bought a large popcorn machine, set it up in his basement and spent about two years experimenting with recipes and handing out free samples before his family urged him to turn the hobby into a business.
Pop Daddy officially launched in 2013 out of a small bakery in Metro Detroit, keeping costs down in the early days by sharing rent with other food makers found through Craigslist. In 2018, a gift of homemade seasoned pretzels from within the family inspired a new line of flavored pretzels. With help from the couple's son J.T., who took the pretzels to TikTok, they became the brand's best known product. Their children J.T. and Grace have both been part of growing the company.
Today Pop Daddy makes more than 25 flavors across pretzels, popcorn, kettle chips and puffs and curls. The snacks are hand seasoned in batches so each piece is evenly coated, and the company describes its mission as bold snacks made with big heart.
