Share Crackers is a small sourdough cracker bakery in Detroit, Michigan. Founder Milana began baking sourdough during the pandemic, finding that the slow, natural rhythm of fermentation suited the quieter pace of lockdown. The joy she found in baking and sharing with others grew into a business built around the ideas of cultivation, nurturing and sharing.
Every batch starts with a sourdough starter named Cher, which traces back to Sicily and came to Milana by way of a local pizza restaurant. The crackers are made by hand using traditional sourdough methods, with ethically sourced ingredients and careful flavor development. The base is simple: unbleached hard red wheat flour, malted barley flour, water, olive oil and salt. The Everything cracker adds sesame, onion, garlic, mustard and nutritional yeast, while the Za'atar version is built on sumac, thyme, paprika, black pepper and nigella seeds.
The team includes Justin, a bake assistant hired through Detroit Food Academy's Advanced Youth Program, who works alongside Milana while attending Detroit Preparatory Academy.
