The brand works by three house rules: great taste, simple ingredients, and much less sugar than the leading brands. Its chocolates are sweetened with real cane sugar rather than artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols, and any color comes from plant-based sources instead of artificial dyes. The products contain no soy ingredients, are certified gluten-free, and the company says it never tests on animals and uses milk from rBST-free sources. Its dark chocolate products are certified non-GMO, most of the line is certified vegan, and UNREAL says it is working toward organic ingredients.
